Meredith House is situated in the East Coast's historic town of Swansea, a convenient drive from either Hobart, Launceston or Port Arthur. It is well positioned with commanding views of Great Oyster Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula - very central to Swansea, yet peacefully quiet.

The house, built in 1853 was designed as an Inn. It has had an interesting history with
many uses including a girls school and a maternity home. It was extensivily restored to
its Georgian grandeur in 1987.
Accommodation includes a luxurious two-room suite with open fire, and six queen-size rooms all with ensuite, mini bar, direct dial telephone, colour television and other modern comforts. There is a guest lounge and dining room with open log fires all furnished with antiques and hand-crafted red cedar colonial furniture, enlighted by warm historic colours. |

Full Breakfasts are served in the dining room; homestyle evening meals, featuring
local food and wine, are available by arrangement.
Swansea has many fine old buildings and attractions including museums and relics of its pioneering past. Swansea's lovely beaches provide excellent fishing and water sport areas. The surrounding mountains, forest reserves and lakes afford good opportunities for trout fishing and other outdoor activities. It is central to the east coast and makes a convenient base for touring the Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay, Wine Glass Bay, Maria Island and other local attractions. |
