THE DISCOVERY CENTRE

A Tour through the history of Stanley

The building which houses the Discovery Centre was built in the 1880's as a parish hall for St Paul's Anglican church.

The Discovery Centre, founded in 1973 by Meg Close and friends, started its life as an art gallery and museum. Today it is a folk museum displaying old photographs, newspapers and bric-a-brac. It is also the area's genealogical centre.

It is run by roster of members of Friends of St Paul's.

The copper brig on the outside wall once adorned the top of Garibaldi's memorial
