REGION The Break O'Day Municipality is situated on the Northern part of Tasmania's East Coast. It is one of the last great, unspoiled areas left on this planet. Its beauty is almost impossible to put into words. Relaxing pursuits such as fishing, surfing, sailing and bush walking exemplify the lifestyle.

It is easy to reach from either Hobart or Launceston. All you have to do is travel through magnificent forests and quaint towns in a picture-book landscape. Our beaches are magnificent, clean and often isolated. It is possible to sit on the sand or a rock all day and not see another person.

The hinterland of magnificent native forests interspersed with old mining towns and fertile rural valleys has a charm and peacefulness hard to find in this day and age.

The only way to really understand what a magnificent place The Break O'Day Municipality is, is to come and see for yourself. Please feel free to contact Break O'Day Council at any time on (03) 6376  1281 or by writing to;

CLIMATE The East Coast of Tasmania has the State's kindest climate - judged by almost any criteria. Climatically you wouldn't think that you are still in Tasmania, it is almost Mediterranean. Oranges and olives grow well and fogs are almost unheard of.
