IN BRIEF The Far North West coast of Tasmania is remarkably unchanged, where natural beauty remains unspoiled. The area abounds with scenery from lush green pastures and rolling hills to rugged coastlines and fertile farmlands. There are temperate forests, shady fern glades, gently flowing rivers and cascading waterfalls. The two major towns of the district are Smithton - the service centre for the area; and Stanley - the major tourist destination of Circular Head.
