IN BRIEF Eaglehawk Neck is a narrow isthmus linking the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas.

During convict days a military station was established here. Called the key to the peninsula Eagle Hawk Neck was of vital importance to the security of prisoners on the peninsula. A line of nine chained dogs were placed across the Neck in 1832. Soon after the number was increased to 11 (the dogs were placed on platforms in the water) and later still, the number increased to 18.

Pirates Bay is the home of the blue fin tuna fishing fleet.
