IN BRIEF Nubeena was originally an out-station where the convicts worked on a large agricultural farm. It operated between 1845-46. The station was abandoned due to harsh conditions and difficulties in maintaining supplies.

Once called Wedge Bay, Nubeena is the Aboriginal word for âcrayfish.

Nubeena is the administration centre for the Tasman Peninsula and the base for essential services such as medical and pharmaceutical.
